Practise what you are going to say to your customers

You need to be confident when you’re encouraging customers to pay for a specialist coat treatment – so what you say and how you say it are very important.

Take the time to practise. Make sure you talk about the dog. “I think Barney would really benefit from . . .” is much better than “Would you like Barney to have . . .”. Practise recommending, say “I would . . .” your opinion matters!

Here we’ve involved the owner, pointed out that the dog needs something extra and then finished off by recommending a solution. Just asking “do you want to spend more money?” is unlike to work!
